I was so excited for this cut, that I started watching it the moment you released the first parts, and I must praise you for your awesome work on this. It’s almost perfect this time. This edit has a lot of impressive and smooth transitions between the different movies and between the movies and their deleted scenes, which I don’t think I would be able to do myself. This is so well cut together it’s crazy. I’m extremely thankful that you want to do this for us fans.
So, my notes on issues and suggestions here, are mostly minor flaws I noticed while I was watching. They are mostly written in the name of perfection, so you could get a chance to perfect your work down to the smallest detail for MK 17. I understand you have a busy life, and since this edit is, more or less, perfect as it is, I don’t mind waiting a year or two for these errors to be fixed. Especially since I know how much work they would require from your part. They are minor flaws, but they require some hard work and delicate hands which I very much recognize.
It may seem like I’m mostly negative here, so I just want to stress that I think you have done a great job on this edit and it has 99% more positives than negatives, so it would be hard and time-consuming to list all the positives. I’m very much thankful for your hard work! As I said, these are all minor errors/issues I’ve spotted in the name of perfection. The only ones that I consider important to be fixed, are the missing subtitles on part 7 and adding the Captain America educational videos back in again, to that very same part.
(About episode titles: I’ve included some titles for the various parts, that I made up myself. These are mostly for myself, as I have split this edit up into episodes like a tv-show, and phase 1, 2 and 3 up into seasons, on my plex media server, so I can watch it like a tv-show. I figured I would include the titles for the parts here as well, so I could get some feedback on them and maybe inspire you to call the various part something unique yourself. I’ve tried to explain my reasoning for the titles, but you can skip those if they are of no interest)
Part 1
My episode title – A History Lesson (We basically cover a lot of MCU history here, so seemed fitting)
Observation: Pure perfection!! No issues.
Part 2
My episode title – Secrets from the past (Both Hank Pym’s, Black Panther’s and Captain Marvel’s exploits in this part seems to be well-kept secrets later on in the MCU, so the title seemed fitting)
Observation: It was so awesome the way you cut the Hank and Janet deleted scene together with the Ghost origin scene. I hadn’t even seen that deleted scene before, so I was delighted to see something new, which is one of the things I love about this cut, and it was so smoothly cut together that I loved every minute of it.
Errors/Issues: I must admit that I think that the scene after it, with Hank returning home from the mission where he lost Janet, works better with the Hank Pym voice-over, as you get a better idea of what is going on, and it might not have the same impact without it. I can see why you have cut it out though, as it might feel weird, when the deleted scene with Hank and Janet before it didn’t have a voice-over. I can also hear that you have worked hard on editing the audio to fit it, so I don’t consider it a must fix. I just personally feel like that particular scene works better with the voice-over, as it made me feel for Hope and Hank that much more, but maybe I’m alone on that.
Another thing is the opening scene from Captain Marvel, where she sees a skrull instead of Yon-Rogg. That scene is a dream sequence, but you have put it right after the actual scene where Carol Danvers get her powers, years before she supposedly has that dream. I think it makes more sense putting it at the beginning of Captain Marvel, because she is most likely having that dream chronologically right before she wakes up at the beginning of that movie, as her seeing a skrull is a consequence of her brain-washing by the Kree at that point in time. It’s also gets a little bit too repetitive having the two scenes right after each other.
Also, the first deleted scene of Captain Marvel where Yon-Rogg is educating the kree children, you have the same dialog between Carol and Yon-Rogg from the beginning of the movie, at the end of the deleted scene, where Carol asks if Yon-Rogg wants to fight. It creates a little bit of a comedic element to it, but I think it might be better to cut it right before Yon-Rogg says “Dreams again?”, as it also gets a little bit too repetitive.
Suggestions: I was kind of hoping that you had included the deleted scene where Captain Marvel faces the supreme intelligence for the last time, and we see his true form. Of course, if there was some issue with including it naturally into the scene, that is perfectly understandable, but if not, maybe consider including it for the MK 17.
I was thinking that it would be cool to include the scene from Civil War where a young Tony Stark interacts with his father and mother before they leave for their trip, where they’re attacked by the Winter Soldier shortly thereafter. The first part of that scene was taken from Tony Starks real memory. So, my idea would be to start with the scene where the Winter Soldier is being brainwashed and get his orders. Then have the scene from civil war, only cut it right after Howard Stark leaves the room to get his bags and before Tony’s mother starts talking about his father missing him, and then cut back to the road where they’re being attacked. This way, we get introduced to Tony Stark at an earlier point and it establishes a more clear connection between John Slattery’s Howard Stark and Tony Stark very early on.
Other than that, pure perfection. I’m loving it so far!!
Part 3
My episode title – An Origin Story (It was the first movie in the MCU and it’s about Tony Stark’s Origin Story, as well as Hulks origin, so the title seemed more fitting here than with any of the other origin stories imo)
Observation: Most excellent!! No issues.
Part 4
My episode Title – Fury’s Big Week (This could be the title of both part 4, 5 and 6. But it’s the only one where Fury actually mention that he has a lot of shit he has to deal with at the moment, and it is the beginning of Fury’s big week, so thought it was most fitting here)
Observation: I love how you cut between the deleted scenes and the actual movie during Iron Man 2. It was cut so smoothly, that you almost couldn’t tell which scene was a deleted scene, and which scene was from the actual movie. Nice job!
Errors/Issues: When you transition from The Incredible Hulk to Iron Man 2, where Tony jumps out of the plane, there is a brief frame of a city that lasts a couple of milliseconds, like you cut the scene from The Incredible Hulk a millisecond too late.
At the very end, when Tony is watching his dad, there is a brief frame of the next scene from Iron Man 2, where he is driving. You probably cut that a millisecond too late as well.
In the same scene while he is watching his dad, you’re cutting back and forth between a deleted scene and the actual movie. A couple of those transitions have some - I don’t know if they’re called visual overlays, but some frames that feel like they have been cut a millisecond too late. More of an observation in the name of perfection. But I understand if this can’t be fixed, since it’s very tricky cutting between a movie and a deleted scene.
Besides that, this is another great edit. Thumps up!!
Part 5
My episode title – Magic or Science (Since Thor gets (re)introduced here, all the while Iron Man 2 wraps up, and we even get the line that “magic is just science we haven’t understood yet” I thought that this title was the most fitting)
Errors/Issues: During the scene, with Thor and his friends, where they’re talking about going to Jotunheimen, it seems like there are some visual overlays or frames that have been cut some milliseconds too late here and there, because you’re cutting back and forth between the actual movie and the deleted scene. I don’t even know if this can be fixed, and I appreciate your otherwise great and smooth editing on this.
That aside, this is also a great edit with a lot of smooth and impressive transitions. Nice work!
Part 6
My episode title – Gods and Monsters (This features mostly Hulk and Thor and we get introduced to Abomination, so thought the title fitted nicely here)
Observation: I simply love the new deleted scene additions to both Hulk and Thor. They give the universe, the story and the characters more life and background, which I love.
Errors/Issues: About 18 minutes and 35 seconds in, when you cut from Blonsky getting injected to Thor and Selvig drinking, there is a brief frame from the next scene in The Incredible Hulk, before transitioning to Thor.
A couple of the scenes when the warriors three arrive in New Mexico gets a little repetitive, since you cut alternative/extended scenes in with the actual movie. I’m mostly talking about three scenes.
The first, is the scene where the warriors three arrive for the second time with the Bifrost in the deleted scene, when they already had arrived in a scene from the actual movie. Maybe cut the deleted scene down, so they’re already there without the Bifrost effect at the beginning of the deleted scene, as the rest of the scene was a great addition.
The second scene I found repetitive was when the two agents on the roof say “Is there a renaissance fair in town”. At first you have the deleted scene where Volstagg sneaks up behind them and knock them out, and then you have the scene from the actual movie, where they repeat the same line, but follow it up with “We got Xena, Robin Hood and Jackie Chan”. My suggestion would be to cut the alternative scene, and then after the scene from the actual movie, where the agents say “We got Xena, Robin Hood and Jackie Chan”, then have the part of the deleted scene where Volstagg sneaks up behind them and knock them out.
When the destroyer arrives, you have two scenes with Erik Selvig, where he walks into the dinner and says “Everybody out, use the backdoor”, right after each other. Maybe cut the one from the extended scene if possible.
During the consultant one-shot, when you cut from Coulson and Sitwell at the dinner, to the scene with Ross and Stark at the bar, there is a brief frame from the one-shot with Stark entering the bar, before the actual scene takes place.
Suggestion/Timeline fix: The scene where Tony talks to Nick Fury about the Avenger Initiative is right after Hulk’s fight with the military at Culver University. I would maybe have the Fury/Stark scene right after we see General Ross watching the news footage about the Culver University event on the very big screen tv (Right after the scene where Banner and Betty wake up in the cave and arrive at the motel). I feel like it makes for a more connective transition, since we have the exact same news going on, on a monitor in the warehouse Fury and Stark are meeting at. It just makes more sense to me, that the news footage from both scenes, are broadcast at the same time.
Another suggestion: The scene where Steve Rogers wakes up in the recovery room is very dark and it’s hard to see what is going on. I know it’s because it’s part of a deleted/extended scene. But there is nothing new in the recovery room part of the scene that isn’t part of the actual movie. The only part that isn’t in the actual movie is when Steve Rogers meets Nick Fury. So, I would suggest taking the first part of the scene at the recovery room from the actual movie, and then cut to the deleted scene where Steve and Nick meet each other.
Besides all that, this part also reflects the excellent work you put into this, with some smooth and impressive transitions between movies and deleted scenes for the vast majority of the edit. Great job!!
Part 7
My episode title – Earth Mightiest Heroes(The Avengers are formed as the Earth Mightiest Heroes. Tony Stark even calls them by that name in the movie)
Observation: I love how, at the end of The Avengers when Maria Hill is talking to the world security council, you cut in scenes from the movie while she talked. It was very well done, kudos!
Errors/Issues: English subtitles during the Black Widow scene, where she is being interrogated by Russians I think, are missing. If I remember correctly, you had them on your previous release. I can’t really understand what they’re saying without them. English subtitles are also missing during the introduction of Banner in, I think, India.
You have the one-shot “Item 47” before the scene where Loki meets Odin and the Thanos reveal scene. That doesn’t really make sense to me timeline wise, since Item 47 is supposed to take place 5-10 days after the alien attack on New York, and Loki meeting Odin after he has been taken back to Asgard most likely happens a day or two after the attack, if not the same day. Same case for the Thanos scene. I would suggest moving the Item 47 one-shot to after the Thanos scene and the Loki meeting Odin scene.
Why have you removed the Captain America educational videos from the end of this? Is it a mistake? Now, there is only one (the one from the end credit of Spiderman: Homecoming). I really enjoyed having those in there, and I don’t’ understand exactly why you have removed them? Will you add them back again please? 😊
Besides that, this is yet another brilliant cut!!
Part 8
My episode title – Genius, Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist (Maybe not the most correct title, so I’m open to suggestions. I just thought that this is more of a Tony Stark movie, than an Iron Man movie, and I figured you could say that this part is mostly about what Tony Stark is without the Iron Man suit)
Observation: Another great edit with wonderful transitions between the movie and the deleted scenes! No isuues!!
Part 9
My episode title – Dark World (Around this time, I figured that if the respective part mostly only features one movie, and that movie had a subtitle, why not just use that. Might be lazy, but as always, I’m open to suggestions)
Observations: The deleted scene with the introduction of Loki, where he pretends to be Thor, kind of feels a little misplaced. Not to mention that the interaction between Loki and Frigga is repeated about 30 minutes later into the movie, which makes it feel a little repetitive. Would it be possible to cut back and forth between the Loki and Frigga deleted scene and the scene from the actual movie instead, too remove the repetitive nature of it? I admit I don’t actually have any clear solution for this myself. So, I just listed it as a observation for now.
I don’t know how I feel about the deleted scene at the end where Jane dumps Thor. On the surface it seems to break continuity with Age of Ultron, where Thor lead us to believe that he is still with Jane. But it does create a new dimension to that scene in Age of Ultron, as Thor never explicitly states that he is still with Jane, he just answers a question about what she is doing and says to Tony that she is better than Pepper Potts. It kind of creates an extra layer to Thor, like he is not ready to tell people about the break-up by that point in time, or he is still in denial, and at the time Thor: Ragnarok happens, it has finally been made official to the public.
Anyway, this is also a very nice edit! Thumps up!!
Part 10
My episode title – The Winter Soldier (If it aint broke…)
Observation: This is obviously from MK15, and I haven’t spotted any new errors/issues I didn’t spot the first time. So, all I can really say is…. Great work, and no further comments.
Part 11
My episode title – Guardians of the Galaxy (Couldn’t think of a more fitting title)
Errors/Issues: At about 27 minutes and 19 seconds in, right after the deleted scene with the prison guard dancing to Peter Quills music, there is a brief frame of Drax sitting from the scene before, right before it transition to the next scene with Quill lying amongst the other prisoners, like you cut the drax scene a millisecond to early.
Other than that, great work and no further comments
Part 12
My episode title – A Space Family (The Guardians have formed their own family by now, and we even meet Star-Lord’s father. Basically, this part is all about family)
Observation: Great work on the transitions between the post credit scenes!! No issues.
Part 13
My episode title – Age of Ultron (I considered calling it the week of Ultron, but oh well)
Errors/Issues: There is some kind of visual overlay when you cut between the movie and the extended scene with Thor meeting Selvig at the university. Both before and after the extended scene.
The deleted/extended scene where Selvig and Thor enters the cave of the norns, the line “This is it, the water of sight” is repeated by Erik Selvig, which he already said in an earlier scene. Can you maybe cut the beginning of the extended scene, to remove the repetitive nature of it?
Besides that, nice work on another great edit!
Part 14
My episode title – A Small Heist (I don’t think I have to explain this one)
Errors/Issues: At the end, during the Hank Pym voice-over, Hank Pym says the line “Telling you she wasn’t coming home, was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do” twice. Can you cut the first time he says it from the audio track maybe?
Other than that, you did some awesome work fixing this part! Thank you!!
Part 15
My episode title – Civil War
Observation: Simply a masterpiece!! No issues.
Part 16
My episode title – The King of Wakanda (Well the whole movie is basically about becoming King of Wakanda, on the surface anyway, and switching the King out a couple of times)
Errors/Issues: The picture is lagging a bit during the first 10-15 minutes. Don’t know if it’s just the copy I have or if it’s a general issue.
Timeline Suggestion: Black Panther takes place about a week after Civil War. I would maybe move the scenes from Doctor Strange - that starts with Doctor Strange talking/arguing with Christine Palmer at his penthouse and ends with the scene where Doctor Strange learns to use the sling ring (About 31 minutes into part 17) – from part 17 to the beginning of part 16 instead, just before Black Panther begins. This way you spread the scenes from Doctor Strange wider apart, in a way that creates a more realistic timeframe, as well as filling out the week from Civil War to Black Panther. At the moment you have placed scenes from Doctor Strange in part 17, that are supposed to take place over several months right after each other. But by moving the mentioned scenes, it creates a sense that Doctor Strange had more time to train and advance in the mystic arts, before the scene where Strange steals books from the library (That scene is followed by a scene where the ancient one says “Once in this room, you begged me to let you learn” suggesting that longer time has passed). Then you can start the Doctor Strange scenes in part 17, the same place as before, but this time start them with the scene where Doctor Strange is shaving instead.
Besides that, great work on the transitions between the movie and the deleted scenes in Black Panther!
Part 17
My episode title – Amazing Tales (Doctor Strange’s first comic appearance was in Strange Tales, and Spiderman’s first comic appearance was in Amazing Fantasy, so figured I would just mix the two comic titles together)
Errors/Issues: English subtitles are missing when Peter is talking to the shopkeeper Delmar, about his aunt.
Observation: Besides my suggestion with moving some of the Doctor Strange scenes to part 16 instead, I didn’t find any more issues than the English subtitles missing! Thumbs up on another great edit!!
Part 18
My episode title – Strange Fantasy (Both this and the part before it features mostly Spiderman and Doctor Strange, so this is just another mix of their aforementioned respective titles, just the other way around, as the title Strange Fantasy also seemed more fitting with the colorful, magical and very surreal conclusion of Doctor Strange here)
Errors/Issues: I think you have placed the deleted scene with Happy Hogan, where he talks with his mom and notice the plane crashing, a little too early. When you cut back to the movie, the plane is still very much flying normally. I would place the deleted scene when the actual movie cuts to Happy noticing the plane crashing and replace that scene with the deleted scene instead.
Other than that, awesome job on another great edit! I love the addition of the Spiderman: Homecoming/ Audi commercial.
Part 19
My episode title – An Astonishing Journey Into Mystery(Basically a mix between Tales to Astonish and Journey Into Mystery, which were the comics Ant-Man and Thor first appeared in)
Observation: Another masterpiece!! No issues.
Part 20
My episode title – Ragnarok (How can the title be anything else, when we literally see Ragnarok unfold here)
Observation: Fantastic work! No Issues.
Part 21
My episode title – Infinity War
Observation: Another amazing edit!! No issues.
Part 22
My episode title – Endgame (or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Time Travel)
Observation: Great and smooth transitions between the deleted scenes and the actual movie. Incredible work!! No Issues.
Part 23
My episode title – Aftermath (Thought it was a more fitting title as a follow-up to Endgame, than Far From Home was)
Observation: I love the addition of the Spiderman vs. The Manfredi Family scene. Was missing that when I originally saw the movie. Simply yet another amazing edit!! No issues.
Final thoughts
This is just an incredible piece of work you’ve created here. Because I’ve watched and followed all these amazing different characters and stories in a tv series like format, I have to admit that I teared up, during the portal scene in endgame, seeing it all come together so beautifully. I didn’t even did that in the theater when I watched it the first time. I simply love this cut so much, a thousand thumps up for you!! Keep up the good work.
For some reason it won't let me send a private message on here, so in order for me to share "my cut", i will need your emails. You can just create a throwaway email for only this purpose. No need for me to get you real email. Then I will send you the details on how to stream it from my plex server. Just write your (newly created) mails in response to this comment. It's still very much tdmedina's cut, so obviously the majority of the credit still goes to him. It's just with the changes i listed above. I would love some feedback on it though :D
